Frequently Asked Questions

Helping Families Make Informed Care Decisions

The search for quality in-home care for a loved one is often overwhelming and it is common to have many questions about services, caregivers, and more. At Hannah’s Home Care, we want to ensure that you have the answers and resources you need to make the best, most informed care decisions possible. We have compiled a list of frequently asked questions and their corresponding answers below to help you learn more about our agency and care services as you research home care for your loved one.

Q: In what areas are your services available?

A: Hannah’s Home Care is proud to offer compassionate in-home care services in Michigan throughout Macomb, Oakland, Washtenaw, and Wayne counties. Hannah’s Home Care of Ohio serves seniors in Ohio in Butler, Clermont, Hamilton, and Warren counties.

Q: How do I know if my loved one needs in-home care?

A: There are several warning signs that may be an indication that an older loved one is in need of care. These can include a decline in personal hygiene, trouble keeping up with household activities like cooking or cleaning, limited mobility or instability when walking, recent falls in the home, inability to drive to doctors' appointments or to get groceries, etc. If a senior loved one has displayed any of these signs or if you would like more information about how he or she might benefit from home care, feel free to contact us anytime. We will be happy to answer any questions you may have and provide a free in-home consultation to assess whether home care might be a good fit for your loved one.

Q. What kind of services do you provide?

A: Our dedicated, professional caregivers are proud to offer a wide variety of non-medical in-home care services including personal care, companionship, specialized Alzheimer’s and dementia care, respite services, and much more. Please visit our Services page to learn more about all the senior care services we offer.

Q. How quickly can I arrange for service?

A: We provide a free in-home assessment to determine each person’s care needs and develop a care plan. Following this assessment, we can typically arrange care within 24 to 48 hours. If there is a need for care sooner than that, please reach out to our team and we will do everything we can to ensure your loved one receives care as soon as possible.

Q: How much does the service cost?

A: The cost for care varies depending on each person’s level of care needs and how many hours of care are required each day/week. Following an assessment of your loved one’s care needs, we will be better able to estimate how much care services will cost.

Q: Do you require a minimum of hours and days a week in order to provide care?

A: Yes. To maintain consistent care for your loved one, we require a minimum of 3 hours of care per day. There is no weekly minimum number of days that care is required.

Q. What are my payment options for home care services?

A: Payment options include cash, check or credit card as well as long-term care insurance. Our team can also assist veterans and their family members with information about using Veterans’ Aid and Attendance benefits and other benefits with the VA.

Q. Are your caregivers insured and bonded?

A: Yes. Hannah’s Home Care and all of our caregivers are fully insured and bonded for your safety, protection, and peace of mind.

Q. How are your caregivers screened?

A: We take great strides to ensure that we hire safe, trustworthy, professional caregivers. Each person we hire is fully screened and must pass a rigorous background check, drug testing, and interview process before being offered employment. To learn more about this process, please visit our Careers page.

Q. What kind of training do your caregivers receive?

A: Regular training is required for all of our staff. Each member of our team receives comprehensive orientation training on agency policies and procedures as well as ongoing caregiver-related training to ensure that we stay abreast of emerging issues and care techniques that can benefit those in our care.

Q: What makes Hannah’s Home Care different from other in-home care companies?

A: At Hannah’s Home Care we are focused on faith and family. Our faith guides us in all that we do and calls us to provide the kind, respectful care that seniors need and deserve. We are a local family-owned agency, and we treat each client we serve as if they were a member of our family.

Q. What are the advantages of home care?

A: Almost all seniors, given the choice, want to remain at home as they age. Home care gives them the freedom to do just that while ensuring that they are safe and well cared for no matter their age or ability level. For older adults who live at a distance from family, home care can provide reassurance that the seniors are safe, offer friendly companionship to prevent loneliness and isolation, and much more.

Q. Who can receive in-home care?

A: Anyone who needs help to remain safe and independent at home can receive in-home care services.

Q. Will I be able to reach someone at your agency after hours and how should I do so?

A: Yes. Someone is available to answer your calls anytime at either of our offices. Simply give us a call at (248) 312-0040 in Michigan and (513) 233-7320 in Ohio.

Q. Are your services available in nursing homes or assisted living facilities?

A: Yes. We can provide senior care services wherever your loved one calls home.

Q. What if my caregiver is sick and cannot make it to my house?

A: We will notify you immediately and do our best to schedule another caregiver to ensure that your care needs are met.
